A Gerard Butler nightcap that'll have you shaking your drink from the tension, this movie really surprised me. It overachieves in every way. Reportedly made for a 35 million dollar budget, it looks like a 100 million dollar film. A seemingly familiar premise is enlivened by a smart narrative tweak and incredible, carefully calibrated, maximum suspense at every turn. I was sleeping on Greenland, and I shouldn't have been (director Ric Roman Waugh and writer Chris Sparling are two of my favorites, not to mention it has a great late-game cameo by another favorite of mine, Holt McCallany).
